superheroes!

Grades 3-4

9am-12pm

One of our most popular camps is back again! Students will create an original superhero and a formidable nemesis, designing their powers, weaknesses, motivations, and backstories. Will your hero have invisibility, x-ray vision, super speed - or perhaps a power no one has ever imagined before? Writers will then craft an action-packed story in which hero and villain clash, strategies unfold, and only one achieves their ultimate goal. This camp is perfect for kids who love to write fast-paced stories full of action and excitement!

Fantasy Forge

Grades 6-7

1pm-4pm

This camp is for writers who want to create worlds of their own and tell epic stories set within them. We’ll explore the building blocks of great fantasy - unique settings, powerful magic systems, heroic (and villainous!) characters, and high-stakes quests. Then we will invent maps, create original creatures and cultures, and send their characters on daring journeys filled with obstacles, mysteries, and surprising choices. By the end of the camp, each student will have written a complete fantasy story (or the opening chapters of a longer one), along with a rich fantasy world they can continue to explore long after camp ends. Perfect for writers ready to think bigger and bring their imagined worlds to life on the page!

June 22-26

mythical beasts

Grades 5-6

9am-12pm

Cultures all over the world have their own unique mythologies. We will read widely to explore myths and legends from different cultures and discover the shared elements that make these stories so powerful. Students will learn about quests, magical objects, larger-than-life characters, and the lessons myths often teach. Using these fascinating stories as inspiration, writers will create a cast of original characters - heroes and heroines, gods and goddesses, and creatures both beautiful and terrifying - and send them off on an epic adventure filled with challenges, magic, and discovery!

Time travelers

Grades 5-6

9am-12pm

Of course, actual time travel isn’t possible (yet!) but luckily, with the power of our imaginations, we can go anywhere and anyWHEN we want! The idea of time travel has fascinated people for centuries, inspiring incredible stories from H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine to Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time. In this camp, students will design their own time machines, choose the eras or even alternate worlds they want to explore, and craft thrilling adventures that blend science fiction, fantasy, history, and mystery. Along the way, we’ll explore how characters respond to changing times, face challenges, and solve problems in new and surprising ways. Writers will experiment with plot twists and imaginative worldbuilding as they bring their time-traveling stories to life.
