Writing Adventures for Grades 3-4 presents...

TIME TRAVELERS

Join us as we take a trip back in time to visit the people and places that shaped the history of our planet!

Build confidence and skills in our fun, creative workshops.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk with the dinosaurs, sail the seas with Vikings, or watch the rise of the pyramids of Egypt? In our imaginations, we will “travel” to many different times and places and write from the perspectives of those who lived long ago!

Through our "Time Travelers" theme, students will write a variety of pieces, including stories, poetry, research reports, and essays. Students begin each project immersed in reading and art experiences to inspire and spark unique ideas. Each piece is taken through the writing process as students are guided to brainstorm, draft, revise, edit, publish, and share their work. At the end of the each workshop, students will have completed several short pieces and one main project that reflects the theme and the skills taught in the workshop.

From these workshops, parents and students can expect:

- small-group and 1-1 guidance in the completion of a variety of writing and art projects

- a focus on organization and elaboration of ideas

- reading for meaning from theme-related texts

- vocabulary development

- direct grammar and mechanics instruction

- individualized instruction through the revising and editing process

- support from a true writers' community

- a low-stress environment that facilitates creative thinking and confidence.

We'd love to have your author join us! Classes are limited to ten students, so register early!
