Workshops for Grades 3-4

 There are so many places to visit on Earth...but have you ever thought of traveling INSIDE the Earth? In this exciting writing class, young explorers will use their imaginations to journey deep beneath the Earth's surface. We’ll craft thrilling stories filled with mysterious caves, strange creatures, and hidden worlds. Are you ready to write your own underground adventure? Let’s dig in! 

 This workshop is six 120-minute weekly classes.

   Steaming jungles, angry oceans, and ferocious beasts...Earth long ago was an amazing but deadly place! Join us on a journey to the beginning of Earth's history and imagine an adventure in this unforgiving landscape. What would it be like to survive in a world filled with towering creatures and wild, untamed nature? In this class, students will use their imaginations to write thrilling stories set in the prehistoric past.

  Ancient Egypt was a great, mysterious culture that created fantastic mythology, incredible structures, and even one of the world's first systems of writing! Let's take a trip back a few thousand years to be there when it all began. Explore towering pyramids, powerful pharaohs, and strange gods as we imagine life along the Nile.

Hop on our longship and join us for an amazing adventure spanning the Atlantic. We’ll imagine daring journeys, new lands, and legendary heroes inspired by Viking myths and history. Create your own bold story of exploration, adventure, and discovery!

Let the rivers speak, let the trees whisper, let the clouds tell their stories! Learn techniques from great poetry masters to create vivid imagery and bring the natural world to life on the page.  Through fun prompts and creative activities, we will experiment with language, sound, and imagination to write our own collection of poetry honoring Earth.

 Visit Medieval Europe with us to read and write all about castles, kings and queens, and battles big and small. Become a chivalrous knight, storm a drawbridge, and ride in a joust...then tell the story! We’ll explore the exciting world of the Middle Ages and imagine what it was like to live in a land of castles, quests, and brave heroes.
